When Herd Group wanted to disrupt the Fleet Management market with their new solutions brand “Herd Synergy” we recommended a Pro Shoot video featuring their expert specialists from each part of the business. This would allow potential customers to hear first-hand from some of the people they’d be dealing with – and understand how the various aspects of the offer fit together to deliver a solution that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
Scope of work
We’ve created many videos over the years for this longstanding client but this was the biggest production yet!
Discovery
As always, solid preparation was the key to success. To help people feel at ease on camera and be confident about what they needed to say we spent time with each expert ahead of shoot day to find out everything about their role, and dig deep into what their customers valued most about each aspect of Herd Synergy.
Pre-production
Furnished with a wealth of discovery information we were able to plan and structure the video and prepare the off-camera questions that would act as prompts for the Herd Experts on the day of filming. We also prepared “crib-sheets” highlighting the key topics structured as answers to the prompt questions and distributed these to each Expert several days ahead of filming.
On-site filming
Alongside the fantastic Herd Group marketing team we planned the filming schedule around everyone’s busy days and made sure everyone was comfortable on camera before filming their segments with a two camera set-up. At the same time we shot a fairly extensive amount of “B-roll” footage in and around the office as background context and for use in other marketing materials.
Review and editing
Approximately 6 hours in total of main footage (from both cameras) was then thoroughly reviewed, prioritised and edited down to about 6 minutes total. We prepared the intro and outro animated graphics to Herd Group’s brand guidelines, spliced these in and further tightened up the final edit to just over 8 minutes in total.
Results!
A highly engaging and informative video setting out Herd Group’s key offer.
The segmented structure of the video reflected the various aspects of Herd Synergy and shows how the whole offer fits together – delivering a service that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
This also lent itself perfectly to being edited out into a collection of shorter clips ideal for use on LinkedIn.
